This is an amazing book that I highly recommend investing in. It discusses starting your book from a “Mirror Moment”in the middle of your story and working from there. But his strategy is very simple and can be used by all types of writers and at any stage of the process. It’s a valuable tool to help focus your story and know what it’s really about.
Will definitely check this book out. I’ve kept two of his other books with me when I am writing and I’ve found them very helpful!
I know I’ve read some of his book on editing. This book is very short, but very insightful and useful.
I’m sure it will be worth checking out 🙂
Thanks for the comments and following the blog. Love your profile pic 😉
You’re welcome! Thanks for the follow back! 🙂 And thank you!
Of course. Looks like we have a lot in common.
Looks that way! Where are you from? You don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to. 🙂 I’m not a creepy stalker I promise!
Haha I’m from Washington too 😀
Not from the Stanwood-Camano area by any chance are you?
Whidbey Island actually 😉
Ok… because for a second there I thought you might possibly be an old friend of mine!
Haha nope. But we appear to be island neighbors.
I’m not currently living on Camano, but I used to 🙂
Ah ha. I see you’re a fan of Ted Dekker, he writes some good books. Though I think I’ve read more Frank Peretti than Dekker.
I am! A very big fan. I like Frank Peretti, but I never got super into his books. I should try reading some more though.
I really like his books “This Present Darkness” and “Piercing the Darkness” they’re quite excellent. I think I’ve only read a couple of Dekker books, I should read more of those lol.
I tried reading those years and years ago, but I think at the time I was just too young to understand much of what was going on. But I remember by dad said they were good.
You should! He’s written some great stuff over the last couple of years.
I can see how that could happen. Any recommendation?
As far as Dekker books? I liked:
1.The Priest’s Graveyard
2. Kiss
3.Skin
4. The Circle Trilogy
5. Blink of an Eye
But they’re really all very good 🙂
I did read the Circle Trilogy. They were good, though a bit more allegorical than I normally like. But still they were good and had some powerful scenes.
Yes, they were good. It’s been years since I read them though. I loaned them all to a friend but I think I might read them when I get them back.
I think my mom just gave me a Dekker book called Illusionist and I have another I picked up at the used bookstore. Though I’ve got a large stack of unread books, so who knows when I’ll get around to them.
Yeah, I have the same problem. Too many books, too little time.
Amen to that lol. I’m always torn between reading and writing when I have free time.
Same here! I try to read more when I have writers block, or when I am too tired to be creative, but not ready to sleep. I like to read in bed. It totally relaxes me:)
Reading in bed is nice, as long as I have enough energy to actually read and not just fall asleep lol.
Yeah, it can be a problem sometimes for sure
